Educator of the Year

The KY ASCD Educator of the Year Award was created and designed to recognize outstanding teachers (P-16) and education professionals (administrators, state department personnel, supervisors, etc.) who have enhanced Kentucky education.

Nominations for this award are made by KY ASCD members and can be made at any time throughout the year. Please note, nominees do not have to be KY ASCD members. The deadline for nominations is October 15. A committee will screen the nominations and make a final selection based on the following criteria:

  • Distinguished achievement in developing innovative educational curricula, programs and/or teaching methods.
  • Professional commitment as demonstrated by consistently upgrading his/her skills and keeping abreast of educational trends and issues.
  • Commitment to ensuring excellence within his/her educational community.

Once the selection has been made, the recipient of the award will be notified as to the date and time of the presentation. The award will be presented at the annual KY ASCD fall leadership institute and the recipient will be invited to attend at no cost. In addition, the KY ASCD  Educator of the Year will receive a one (1) year free membership to both ASCD and KY ASCD and will receive an engraved plaque for his/her accomplishments. The KY ASCD member who nominated the recipient will present the award.

Is there someone in your school or district who has made outstanding contributions to education?  A “pat on the back” or a thank you note is always appreciated; but wouldn't you like to have other people in the state recognize and honor this person? Now is the time to make nominations for this award.
